Pre-Surgical Instructions
Please read these instructions carefully before your pet’s surgery. Following each step helps keep your pet safe and supports a smooth procedure.
The Night Before Surgery
- No food after midnight. Please do not feed your pet after 12:00 a.m. the night before surgery.
- Water is okay. Your pet can have water right up until you leave for the clinic.
- No supplements. Please skip all supplements the morning of surgery.
- On daily medication? Call us ahead of time. Some medications can affect anesthesia, and we'll let you know how to proceed.
The Morning of Surgery
- Arrive on time. Please arrive at your assigned drop-off time. A 20-minute grace period is allowed. After that, a $50 late fee may apply — and depending on the schedule, we may not be able to see your pet, which means your deposit will be forfeited.
- Secure your pet for travel. Cats must arrive in a carrier. Dogs must arrive on a leash.
- Leave personal items at home. Blankets, toys, and other personal items can't stay with your pet during surgery.
- Not feeling well? If your pet is coughing, sneezing, vomiting, has diarrhea, or shows any other sign of illness, call us before you come in. Sick pets can't safely have anesthesia.
At Drop-Off
- We'll check in your pet. Our staff will review your pet's chart, confirm any last details, and give you a pickup time.
- You'll sign a consent form. We'll walk you through a treatment consent form before we begin.
What Happens Next
Once surgery is complete, your pet will rest and recover under our care until they’re ready to go home. You’ll receive full written aftercare instructions — see our Aftercare Instructions page for what to expect during recovery.
