What Is a Microchip?
A microchip is a tiny chip, about the size of a grain of rice, placed just under your pet’s skin. It holds an ID number that a vet or shelter can scan if your pet is ever lost. Unlike a collar, it can’t fall off or get removed.

Why It Matters
A microchip only works if it’s registered. We’ll give you simple steps to register your pet’s chip online after your visit — it takes just a few minutes and makes a real difference if your pet ever gets lost.
How to Add This
Nail trims are only available as an add-on to a scheduled spay, neuter, or dental cleaning at Mermaid SANDS. We don’t offer nail trims as a standalone visit. If you need a stand-alone nail trim, Mermaid Vet Hospital or your regular vet can help.
