Heartworm Prevention for Dogs and Cats

One monthly dose protects your pet from a disease that's expensive, painful, and hard to treat once it takes hold.

Why Heartworm Prevention Matters

Heartworms are spread by mosquito bites. Once inside your pet, the larvae grow into worms that live in the heart and lungs. Left untreated, heartworm disease can cause lasting damage or death.

Treatment for an active heartworm infection is expensive, risky, and hard on your pet’s body. Prevention is a small monthly cost that avoids all of that.

Both dogs and cats can get heartworm disease. Cats have no approved treatment if they become infected — prevention is the only protection they have.

Heartworm Prevention for Dogs

We carry Tri-Heart Plus, a monthly chewable tablet.

Tri-Heart Plus uses the same active ingredients (ivermectin and pyrantel) as other leading heartworm preventives, at a lower cost. Your dog needs a negative heartworm test before starting.

Heartworm Prevention for Cats

We carry Bravecto Plus, a topical treatment applied to the skin between your cat’s shoulder blades.

Bravecto Plus covers heartworm, fleas, ticks, and common intestinal parasites in a single application — no monthly pills to remember.

The specific products we carry can change based on manufacturer availability and supply. If we ever need to substitute a different brand, we’ll make sure it offers equal or better protection before recommending it to you.
